A New Ocala Open Champion is Crowned.
Congratulations to Danny Ellis of Heathrow, Florida, Champion of the 2009 Ocala Open.
The final round of the 4-day professional golf tournament ended with Danny Ellis 3 strokes ahead of runner-up Nick Lindheim of Melbourne, FL.
Ellis previously played on the PGA and Nationwide tour, winning over $1.6 million dollars in career earnings.
Ellis praised the condition of Candler Hills Golf Club. About the golf course and the tournament hospitality…“In mini-tour standards, this is by far the best run tournament I have ever played in. I will definitely return next year to defend my title.” The majority of the 126 professional golfers offered the same praise for the efforts of the more than 150 volunteers, the planning committee members and the tournament staff that worked closely together to make this one of the best golf events in Central Florida.
The biggest winners in any golf event are the charities. The 2009 Ocala Open benefiting charities were Interfaith Emergency Services of Ocala and the Marion County American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women. Each of these special charities received $20,000 in support of making a difference in our beautiful community.
We are already looking forward to next year’s event.
Check out some of the photos of the event and plan to visit On Top of the World and play Candler Hills… where the pros want to play.
