Golf tip: When in doubt, play to the American flag.
The American flag proudly waves atop Candler Hills 
Golf Shop. From the tee box of course’s 9th hole, you can see the flag. It provides you the perfect target for driving your ball toward the green. Play to the American flag on this hole and you will not be led astray.
Hole #9 of the Candler Hills Golf Club is called “The Roller Coaster” because of its rolling terrain. When standing on the tee box, your eyes focus on the twin sand bunkers located on the left side of the fairway and you think of where to hit the ball in order to avoid the sand. Just beyond the two bunkers is a mound. If you are playing from the blue tees, you are only 167 yards from the top of this mound. Your best bet is to aim for the American flag. You are going to feel that you are playing very close to the out-of-bounds on the left hand side of the fairway… but what you can’t see from the tee is that the fairway opens up to the left once you’re past those two bunkers and the big mound. Once your ball hits the top of the mound it will roll down into the open fairway. What’s the target line from there to be assured you are 
heading at the green? Just to the left of the American flag there is a light pole with a white roof behind it. That’s the new target line!
If you are playing from the back professional tees and you can’t hit the tee shot 234 yards to carry the bunkers on the left…you would first have to ask yourself why you are playing from the back tees, but, ultimately it might be the punishment of losing a bet somewhere along the way… or you may just enjoy that type of challenge. The ultimate focus point from the black tees is simply the light pole just to the left of the American flag.
Play over the bunkers… It’s the shortest and most rewarding shot on this hole.
